Tax-ready is not decision-ready
A bank balance tells you how much cash is sitting there today.
It cannot tell you what the business owes, whether last month was profitable, which work carried the margin, or how much cash needs to stay put.
Your books should help answer those questions before the decision—not explain the damage afterward.
Can the business afford another employee?
Should we buy equipment or finance it?
How much cash needs to stay in the business?
Which jobs, services, or customers produce the margin?
Where did costs move this month?
What should we discuss with the tax professional before year-end?
What we handle
Categorization, reconciliations, month-end close, and clear financial statements delivered every month.
Months or years behind? We work through the backlog, correct the file, and get the books current.
Payroll administration coordinated with your books so wages, taxes, and reports stay connected.
A QuickBooks file built around how your business operates, plus training on the parts you need to own.
Organized sales-tax records, recurring filing support, and QuickBooks setup that keeps liabilities traceable.
A focused review of transactions, overhead, recurring charges, job costs, and categories that may hide margin.
Bookkeeping, payroll, AP/AR, and active financial oversight for businesses that need more than a monthly close.
Cash-flow forecasting, budgets, profitability analysis, and financial modeling for major decisions.

Why Small Business Bookkeeping Co. exists
My father came from Honduras and built Orlando's Landscaping through years of hard work. For a long time, the business mostly operated like his job. Work came in. Bills got paid. Then he went back out and worked some more.
I started there as a laborer in 2019 and worked my way into operations and bookkeeping. Once we began sitting down with the numbers, the questions changed: How much should stay in the bank for winter? Could the business support another crew member? Which services were actually profitable?
I built Small Business Bookkeeping Co. for owners who understand their operations but were never given a financial system that shows what all that work is building.

“I highly recommend Skylar. We did not have any real bookkeeping before him and our old tax person would just charge us a crazy amount at the end of the year to catch everything up. Skylar stepped in and saved us so much time. Our books are always ready now and getting taxes done last year was incredibly easy. 10/10 recommend.”

“They been a huge help with QuickBooks training and monthly bookkeeping for our fencing company. The team taught me how to use QuickBooks for invoicing and billing, which helped us move away from paper billing and save a lot of time. Also keeps our books organized and helps us stay prepared for tax season. I’d definitely recommend them to any small business owner needing bookkeeping or QuickBooks help.”

The biggest value was having clearer numbers to help me plan ahead and think through eventually stepping back from the company. Common questions
Our strongest experience is with owner-operated businesses earning approximately $150,000 to $1 million annually. That is a fit guide, not an absolute cutoff.
No. Small Business Bookkeeping Co. is based in Lexington and works with local, regional, and nationwide clients.
That is common. We can begin with catch-up bookkeeping, correct the existing file, and then move into monthly service.
No. Small Business Bookkeeping Co. is not a CPA firm and does not provide legal or tax opinions. We keep your books organized so your tax professional receives clean, usable records.
Yes. Many clients add payroll to monthly bookkeeping so payroll records and the general ledger stay connected.
We use a zero-lift onboarding process: request only what is necessary, establish secure access, and minimize recurring document requests. Most receipts can be sent with a photo.
Review cadence depends on the service plan. Ongoing advisory and managed relationships include regular conversations about the numbers, not just emailed reports.
It may be available when a business has a real, predictable reduction in workload and transaction volume. We evaluate that during the bookkeeping review.
